Did you see the winner of the Washington Post's Peeps Diorama Contest? It depicted a scene from the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom (featuring lots of sugary "Peeple" on the National Mall ). One of our staffers made this diorama of "Francis Scott Peep" watching the attack on Fort McHenry and writing the national anthem during the War of 1812. This year is the 200th anniversary of the battle and the anthem.
This diorama wasn't a winner--perhaps due to historic inaccuracies in uniforms and armaments spotted by our savvy military history experts?
What historic scenes do you want to see in next year's contest?
