He may be missing an eye, but that hasn't hurt Tortuga's appeal with zoo visitors. The eight-year-old koala was brought to our wildlife hospital at Taronga Western Plains Zoo last year after being found beside a road with a serious wound to his right eye. Staff were unable to save the eye, but Tortuga has otherwise made a full recovery and found a home at Taronga Zoo in Sydney. Already a hit with visitors to our Koala Encounter, he is expected to join our breeding program later this year.
