On the banks of the Ganges River, children play in a site that is used to treat leather trimmings discarded by nearby tanneries. The leather is burnt, dried and then ground up to be sold as chicken food and fertiliser. Much of the leather produced by nearby tanneries is being exported to western markets, supplying a growing demand for leather products in the west.
