I had my lower lip pierced briefly about ten years ago. Just a small hoop, right through the centre, with a little amethyst bead. I felt powerful energy in the stone, and the pressure of the metal was pleasantly grounding. But my parents were horrified. And while I've traditionally gone right ahead and done what I please, this time it felt different - somehow not worth it - and so I took it out. I still have the scar.
