Spicy might not immediately come to mind when you think of Japanese food.🌡️🤔

But togarashi pepper has been heating up the local cuisine for four centuries. 🌶️

At first it was not well received. 😅 However, it later gained popularity during the 17th century when a drug wholesaler began mixing the togarashi with medicinal herbs and promoting it as a health food called "shichimi". 🥵☺️😋
