After matching with a donor, there is no mandate for a donor to communicate any updates of medical information. So, for example, if my egg donor or one of her family members is later diagnosed with a serious genetic condition, there is currently no way for our family to get this information, and this information is crucial for the health and well being of my children. Genetic health and medical information is a right - not a privilege. Next month, we, 3 passionate moms via egg donation, plan to attend ASRM, American Society for Reproductive Medicine Conference, in New Orleans to advocate for the rights and well-being of donor-conceived families. ASRM oversees third party reproduction and is responsible for donor conception, yet has historically left out our community’s voices from its conferences. We can’t let this happen anymore; however, attending this conference comes at a significant financial cost. We are seeking support to help us achieve our dreams of impacting change for the health and future of our families - ALL donor conceived families.
