Launches are LOUD!

Before sending our spacecraft on their way, we test to ensure they can withstand the noise of launch. The Plankton, Cloud, Aerosol, ocean Ecosystem (PACE) satellite just finished its acoustic testing, and to celebrate the “President’s Own” US Marine Band joined us to see if they could match the decibels of a launch.

The band didn’t quite reach the sound levels that PACE can withstand, but the musicians composed a fanfare for PACE’s journey to orbit, where it will study our ocean ecosystem and monitor Earth’s climate.

We love hearing the sweet sounds of studying the sea!
