Tutuila, the largest island in the American Samoan chain, was seen by #Landsat 8 on July 22, 2022.

Tutuila is the apex of a shield volcano, the majority of which is underwater. The island, as well as its neighbors to the east, are still considered potentially volcanically active. American Samoa was formed by hotspot volcanism, similar to the Hawaiian Islands.
