Every so often, a *debate* pops up where others pass judgement on how people should feed their babies... We hear 'breast is best' and 'fed is best' being thrown around. And it's all just so... Tiring?

The pressure on parents, but especially mums, is already so impossible. And the sense of failure and guilt people feel is just setting us up to fail.

As someone who has breastfed both of my babies, I'd honestly just love for mums to be supported however they end up feeding their babies. Because it's truly no one's business.

We always hear: well breastfeeding is free. Well, if it was that easy, why don't more people do it? Why are parents so desperate to feed their babies they are having to steal baby formula?

If it's SO important, and if it really is a public health scandal as was suggested during this debate yesterday - offer women better support? And by that I mean not only lactation support but also affordable childcare so they don't have to juggle feeding with other children and also Postnatal support so we're not left feeling physically and emotionally broken.

I breastfeed, but I also could afford a lactation consultant with my first. I breastfeed, but I'm able to take my baby to work with me. I breastfeed but I also get comments that I'm attention seeking because my boobs are out (as if I have EVER wanted people to stare at my b00bs - but especially when feeding a baby, WTF?). I breastfeed but I also wish my son had taken a bottle so I could have been able to leave him for work or pleasure. I tried a bottle and formula.

I breastfeed but I also never pass judgement on those who don't. Because I trust people do what's best for their babies. And sometimes what's best isn't just science. It's what's best for the mum and for families who all have different circumstances and experiences.

Honestly, we need to stop being so judgemental and just become a more tolerant space for mums and children.

My sister and I had very different feeding journeys. Different parenting journeys. We both struggled, but with different things. But we both have happy 2 year olds who are loved. They both get bugs, and we both tried our best.

Less judging. More supporting. 🫶
