I love green tea.
I've also reached Tenshin Okakura's "The Book of Tea" and am already a tea addict.
Tenshin Okakura is a very important figure who introduced Japanese art to the world.
He was not a painter, but he was a thinker who was admired by painters. He participated in the establishment of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, and in order to ascertain historically important Buddhist statues, he went to investigate on his own and introduced the Law for the Protection of Cultural Properties. And he founded the Japan Art Institute.
As the saying goes, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do", when He went to China for inspection, he shaved all him hair there, put on a “Benpatsu” wig (a hairstyle that was practiced in China ), and went to China. I was surprised by his ability to take action in his national costume.
This is a rough explanation, but the more you know about Okakura, the more you will be fascinated by his passion.

お茶巡りのお散歩。
岡倉天心の「茶の本」にも辿りついて、もうすでにお茶の虜。
本の中に出てくる「頑固一徹、度し難いお茶のみで、二十年間の間、食事はいつもこの魅力的な植物の煎じ汁で流し込んできたものだ。お茶で夕べを楽しみ、お茶で真夜中を慰め、お茶で朝を迎えてきたのだ」と言う文章も気に入ってしまった。
岡倉天心は、日本美術を海外に伝えた超重要人物。
画家では無いが、画家にも慕われた思想家だった。
東京美術学校の設立に加わり、歴史ある重要な仏像を確かめる為に、自らの足で調査しに行き、文化財保護法を導入した。そして日本美術院を創設。
「郷に入ったら郷に従え」と言う言葉通り、中国視察へ行った際、現地で髪の毛を全部剃り、辮髪(べんぱつ/当時中国で行われていた髪型)のカツラを被り、中国の民族衣装を着た彼の行動力には驚き。
かなりざっくりな説明ですが、岡倉を知れば知る程、
彼の熱き情熱に魅せられます。
