Chiharu Shiota in STILL ALIVE

Für das Werk Inside-Outside (2009) sammelte Chiharu Shiota alte Fenster auf Baustellen im Osten Berlins. In der Ausstellung STILL ALIVE. Werke aus der Schenkung Sammlung Hoffmann wirken sie wie Zeugen für das Leben, das sie einst umgaben. Welche konkreten Fragen beim Aufbewahren von Geschichten aufkommen, erklärt Leonie Samland, Restauratorin des Albertinum, in einem kurzen Statement zum Werk.

For the artwork Inside-Outside (2009), Chiharu Shiota collected old windows from construction sites in East Berlin. In the exhibition STILL ALIVE. Works from the Schenkung Sammlung Hoffmann, they seem like witnesses to the life that once surrounded them. Leonie Samland, conservator at the Albertinum, explains in a short statement which particular questions arise when preserving histories.
