When I moved to Berlin in 1997, there was a feeling of destruction and rebuilding at the same time. Even though the Berlin Wall had fallen eight years previous, there was still a lot of transition. I would walk past these construction sites and saw many discarded windows. It felt like these objects had a story to tell. My art reflects the unseen dimension of our ordinary life. It is like grasping something that is not there, but you can still feel it. The mundane objects that surround us accumulate our daily memories and therefore our existence. They are like a third skin. On the occasion of the exhibition, König Galerie has also published the booklet “The Wall behind the Windows”, containing of two posters, three postcards and an extensive text on the relationship with the material, which can be purchased at the shop and online.
