As these two inched along, I became increasingly frustrated with their snail-like pace. I tried to pass on the left, then made a desperate attempt to slip by on the right, before I realised with the most terrible thud that I had nowhere to be. No deadline to hit. No appointment to keep. What the hell was wrong with me? Why could I not just saunter along, in the glorious sun, under the brilliant fall canopy, and slow the heck down?! What compels me to hurry not just myself but others? I can't blame the city. I contribute every day to this lifestyle of urgency. But you have to wonder: at the moment of my death, will I wish that I moved more quickly? Or will I wish that I slowed myself down. The answer is embarrassingly obvious.
