Actually what it's STILL doing feeding my son. And say, thank you body ILY. It's surreal. It's definitely given me a new appreciation of our bodies. 💕 I really thought that our bodies were meant to have recovered 6 weeks after birth; I think because I thought you'd get the health check as an 'all clear' to go back to exercise. So this week has been an education for me in what happens to our bodies after birth and how long it can take to recover. It makes me sad / angry the lack of education and knowledge around postnatal care and how many women suffer as a result because they presume things are normal. It makes me really want to do something about it. I went for a postnatal health check by @martakinsella at the @the_mummy_mot and had a full check inside and out. I am definitely still on the road to recovery, but I felt so much better knowing exactly where I am rather than just guessing and fearing my body. (I was genuinely scared of ripping a stitch if they weren't healed). So whilst I'm on the road to recovery, I still have a tummy gap, slight prolapse, and need to work on my pelvic floor muscles (and it's never to late to start working on these). I feel like there's a lack of knowledge because there's so much shame or embarrassment around our bodies. I wish it would change. I feel like pregnant bodies get so much love and admiration, but postnatal bodies are treated like they should be covered up or snapped back I don't fit in my old clothes, but I decided not to stress and just buy some in a new size. What I love about my lnew tiny belly is that Alf loves to lie on it. ❤️😊 My body might not be the same, it might still be recovering, but I've never been more in awe of it. Thank you for growing my baby and continuing to feed him. 🙏🤱🏼 #4thtrimester #newmum #selflove」2月28日 6時24分 - ashleylouisejames
