テート・ギャラリーさんのインスタグラム写真 - (テート・ギャラリーInstagram)「In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, New York based artist @AlizaNisenbaum has focused her portrait paintings on NHS staff from the Merseyside region in the North West of England. Nisenbaum has worked with her sitters remotely from Los Angeles, painting from life via video chat and developing a personal connection with each subject. This painting is of Shari, an Intensive Care Nurse who has worked throughout the pandemic. ‘Nobody expected this pandemic. It has brought a lot of bad, but we’ve also seen a lot of good in people. The theatre staff came to help us. Everyone came together during the peak, we had to rely on each other. I imagine it was difficult for them because it’s a totally new area and experience, but they just plunged in. We just had to put one foot in front of the other, get through the day and then do it all over again the next day. Now that the second wave is here, we are like a big family and somehow, we come through together.' Thank you to all of our NHS workers and to each and every person who is booking appointments for themselves and their families to be vaccinated. If the people in these portraits can teach us anything, it’s the difference we can make when we pull together. The best way we can honour the hard work and dedication of Shari and all our NHS workers is by protecting ourselves and protecting others. 💙 See the link in our bio for more stories from our NHS workers, or visit Nisenbaum’s portraits on display @tateliverpool when we reopen to visitors.
