Furano is located right in the center of Hokkaido, which is why it is called the “heso” (belly button) of Hokkaido. Did you know that there’s even a festival called the “Heso Matsuri”, where people paint funny faces on their belly and dance in the parade?😱 (go google it!) That’s the annual festival of Hokushin Shrine ⛩, the shrine with a vending machine for omamori and omikuji, featured in my previous reel.
