Apropos of nothing, here’s another LaserDisc, or, as it says on the label, a VideoDisc. (Was there a difference?) It’s the 1986 Japanese release of "RICOCHET - THE PRIVATE FILM OF DAVID BOWIE". The documentary was filmed in the Far East at the end of the 1983 Serious Moonlight Tour. Directed by Gerry Troyna, the film interweaves the documentary format with travelogue, scripted narrative interludes, and some edited live performances. Not having the luxury of either a player or an understanding of Japanese, it's hard to work out if this is the same as the original 59-minute, 1984 video release, or if it’s as the 2006 Serious Moonlight live concert film DVD, which featured a longer version at 78 minutes. Anybody out there know? We’ve also posted the insert and the double-sided Japanese Ricochet flyer for good measure. FOOTNOTE: As Don pointed out in the DBFB comments, it says 60 on the back cover. So, this is the same as the 1984 video release.
