Over 1,000 people showed up. That was my first ‘wow’ moment. Then I knew we’d found a home here in Edmonton.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Our recent weekend e-marketplace attracted over 3,000 people and we hope to expand it into a year round platform. We have created a safe place for Black people across Edmonton to share their culture and their businesses. These entrepreneurs face barriers in business such as fair access to venture capital funding, and we just wanted to remove as many as possible so they can be successful. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ We were inspired by the Black Owned Market in Calgary, and our goal is to expand to other cities across the country. We provide a way for locals and visitors to experience our diverse culture in a safe and inclusive space.
