Visitors will notice a new installation at the entrance of our American Art galleries that recognizes the Brooklyn Museum’s location on Lenapehoking—the ancestral homeland of the Lenape (Delaware) people. Developed in consultation with Lenape leaders, the artworks on view foreground the original inhabitants of what is today known as Brooklyn and the Lenape people’s histories of cultural expression, migration, and resilience.
