Alright. I got Mazzy’s birthday plan locked down. We’re doing a small virtual party for her Harry Potter loving friends. It’s going to be at 9pm on her actual birthday (a school night!) which makes it feel a bit more exciting and allows Alice from Australia and Skyler from New Zealand to join— one good thing about virtual birthdays is that they can have international guests! They’re making butter beer from cream soda, butterscotch syrup and vanilla ice cream. Then they’re doing a virtual Harry Potter Escape room. We sent out virtual invitations that look kinda like acceptance letters at Hogwarts. It names the location as an extremely lame but necessary Muggle service called Zoom. I’m expecting some RSVPs via owl as soon they cross the Pacific. Otherwise, it’s kinda up to them to create the fun. MAZZY doesn’t want decor and I won’t be on the call obviously. But I have faith that five kids on Zoom, drinking mocktails after bedtime on a school night will find a way to keep themselves entertained.
