I want to say that we were perfectly safe and responsible, but the truth is— we did our best. We waited until it was nice out and most people were tested, then ate the whole meal outside, at socially distant tables. Grammy had separate little cups for crudite and dips, so everyone could take their own. We ate chicken soup in big plastic cups. For the main meal, the cousins flocked together to one table and we didn’t stop them, but Grammy and Sammy sat separate, since they are the most at risk. If anyone had to use the bathroom or helped Grammy clear the table, they put on a mask to go inside. Then we played outdoor replay races and had Carvel cake; my Thanksgiving birthday tradition. I thought when I posted on my story that I would get lots of comments from people saying that this was unsafe and a bad idea, but instead I got tons of comments from people who said they were surprised my family was still taking COVID so seriously. Not in a bad way. They just wished that their families realized you can respect CDC guidelines, still have fun, create new traditions and it not be so all or nothing. Now, this could all change in a week and New York could go into full on lockdown again. If that’s the case, we will lockdown too. You can watch our full day on my story. Grammy is really the best at coming up with creative ways to make things fun for the kids, especially in odd circumstances. It’s her special gift.」12月1日 2時35分 - mommyshorts
