Do artists teach us about sex?
What is the importance of representation?
Can art make us reflect on our own sexuality?
Tonight in our #FromaPlaceofLove series we join Marc Thompson, Mwice-Margaret Kavindele, MisSa Blue and Remi Arnold as they discuss art’s role in sexual education. In a conversation filmed before lockdown, these four reflect on artworks in Tate’s collection that advocate for body positivity and sexual empowerment.
In the videos above we hear MisSa reflect on Sunil Gupta's 1984 photograph 'Lisa & Emily', and Remi and Mwice speak about Zanele Muholi’s 2005 work 'Flesh II'. Click the link in our bio to hear the full conversation 🔗 and while you're there, read about six artists who made us think twice about sex.
From a Place of Love is produced by @TateExchange in partnership with @UKBlackPride. Inspired by the art of #ZaneleMuholi, the programme brings together Tate Exchange’s exploration of Love with UK Black Pride’s theme of Home. 💖🏠 Enjoy.
