The other week while in Yosemite, I was scrambling along the cliffs edge looking for a good sunrise location when I spotted this coyote. It was more of a dot as I saw it down in a snowy meadow hunting from about half a mile away, but I decided photographing the coyote may yield better results then lingering up high for a lackluster sunrise. I headed all the way down and found the coyote 20 minutes later hunting rodents under the snow. The morning mist lingered over the meadow and created some really interesting opportunities. Many folks may despise coyotes, but I think they’re brilliant to watch and when sporting a full winter coat, are one of North America’s prettiest animals.
