Simon recorded individual attendees applauding at concerts, sporting events, and political rallies at three of the largest venues in the capital city of the bellwether state of Ohio over a one-year period. This installation gathers the applause of individuals with varying political, corporate, and ideological allegiances into a single roaring crowd. Anticipating the present isolation of public life, "Assembled Audience" captured these gathering spaces just prior to their being quieted by COVID-19 and repurposed for eviction trials, police trainings, and a field hospital.
