I’ve been working with @reprorights for the past 2 years as the unconstitutional extreme abortion bans started being pushed through in states around the country. This week, confirmation hearings are beginning for Amy Coney Barrett- there is a link IN MY BIO to contact your Senators and tell them they MUST VOTE NO. Here’s a bit of context from the Center’s Vivian Siu: “The Center has made the decision to officially oppose the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to be a U.S. Supreme Court in accordance with our policy that allows us to oppose a Supreme Court nominee whose approach to constitutional interpretation is fundamentally hostile to the protection of reproductive rights. It’s only the second time in the Center’s history that we have taken a position on a Supreme Court nominee.
A careful review of Judge Barrett’s judicial opinions and writings present the most extreme anti-reproductive rights record as any Supreme Court nominee since the rejected nomination of Judge Robert Bork over 30 years ago. The evidence in her record suggests that Judge Barrett stands all too ready, if not eager, to undermine our basic liberty rights. So we’re working hard to shed light on that record and will use our report to educate the Senate Judiciary Committee and staff, the media, coalition partners, and our supporters. We’re opposing Judge Barrett solely based on her judicial record and philosophy.

As an organization that litigates cases, including in the Supreme Court, we are rigorous about factual accuracy and careful legal analysis. We are a nonpartisan organization that does not support or oppose political parties or candidates, and Supreme Court nominations have become highly politicized affairs.
It was not until the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh in 2018 that we’d ever seen circumstances that were worth the risks of wading into these waters. And here we are again.”
