For months Iraqi youth successfully occupied the streets of Baghdad, prompting Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi to resign. COVID-19 brought Iraq’s protests to a halt in 2020, with the rise of curfews and social distancing, but the impact of the protests continues to ripple, and in some cases upend, the status quo.
