Trained as an architect and engineer, today Abloh’s creative force transverses fashion, performance, and contemporary art. Across all mediums, his work deconstructs and publicly shifts the creative process, declaratively redefining the conversation around aesthetic systems and their distribution. His street-couture label Off-White, which Abloh founded in 2013, combines conventional tailoring with more subversive references, and in 2018, he was named the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear. Last year, MCA Chicago highlighted Abloh’s multifaceted career in the exhibition, “Figures of Speech.” Combining and showcasing all of Abloh’s creative powers, the exhibition featured a range of his artworks, designs, and fashion label merchandise.
