Gagosian is pleased to present "REAL RESEARCH," a new painting by Ed Ruscha, now online for forty-eight hours only.

Ruscha is unabashed about reaching back into the history of visual expression to produce original work, and this new painting transforms that foundational practice into explicit subject matter. The titular phrase is rendered in black serif capitals against the soft orange-yellow glow of a sunset over (we assume) the Hollywood Hills, only a periodic smearing of the letters hinting that the process it describes is anything other than seamless and immutable.
