Gordon works across disciplines and often dimensions, layering time, language, and philosophical questions of ethics and morality. His large-scale, multi-screen videos and conceptual installations engage with references to popular novels and film, as well as to the artist’s own life and memories. Using well-known characters and environments as a canvas, Gordon breaks down the world as we know it, restructuring it into his own refurbished, non-linear portrait. After being postponed due to COVID-19, Gordon’s exhibition, “The Morning After,” will open at the Giacometti Institute, Paris, in 2021, exhibiting his work alongside Alberto Giacometti’s rarely shown objects. This year, Gordon and the Giacometti Institute are currently partaking in a long-term artist “residence,” an unprecedented collaboration and dialogue between the artist and Institute, interspersed with projects and conversations.
