J.-C.) déposés dans les temples de Bastet pour honorer la déesse et attirer sa protection sur son donateur. - ☀️ À l'origine, Bastet est une déesse lionne associée au dieu solaire dont elle incarne la puissance destructrice ; puis, au début du Ier millénaire av. J.-C., elle est aussi, sous sa forme féline adoucie de chatte, maîtresse de la fécondité et protectrice du foyer. - 👀 Deux inscriptions portant les cartouches du roi Psammétique Ier, premier roi de la 26e dynastie, sont gravées sur le pourtour du socle qui reproduit le contrepoids du collier sacré (ménat) des déesses Hathor, Isis et Bastet. Le texte nous informe qu'un certain Mersopdou, fils de Hor, a fait offrande à Bastet pour bénéficier de la protection de la déesse. - - - - 🌎 We wish you all a #GoodWeek with the goddess Bastet! 😊 - 🐱 This haughty and elegant seated cat is one of many ex-votoes from the Late Period (664-332 BC); these objects were placed in the temples to Bastet to honor the goddess and earn her protection for the donor. - ☀️ Originally, Bastet was a lioness goddess linked to the solar god, and as such, embodied its destructive power. Then in the early first millennium BC, she also became goddess of fertility and protector of the home, in the gentler feline form of the cat. - 👀 Two inscriptions with the cartouches of King Psammetichus I, the first pharaoh of the 26th Dynasty, are engraved around the edge of the base, which reproduces the counterweight of the sacred necklace (the menat) of the goddesses Hathor, Isis, and Bastet.
