Happy birthday to #TanyaGoel, who was born #onthisday in New Delhi in 1985. This February, she and her studio assistant spent two weeks at the museum, installing the site-specific wall drawing "Index V" for "Fault Lines: Contemporary Abstraction by Artists from South Asia." To create this work the artist used a snap line—a common construction tool for measurement to apply indigo and pulverized red brick pigment that she mixed with acrylic medium directly onto the wall. Goel’s ordered lines directly correlate to the world’s changing sea levels, forming a record of their rise and fall over time. The continuation of the curve on the adjacent wall emphasizes the significant spike in our modern times. #BehindTheScenes
