The lines I choose to take while skiing and the routes I dream up for ski mountaineering or trail running represent who I am, what I value, how I see the world, and how I discover the fabric of which I am made. Whether it's a new-to-me mountain range or trail system, I am driven by a desire to explore new horizons and perspectives, try new things, and to find out what's possible when it comes to moving through the mountains and pushing aside my fears and doubts. I've learned that when I pursue activities that I find both exciting and scary, I'm able to access an incredible feeling of freedom, self-love, and ability to continue dreaming big. Some of these activities in the past have included running from my home in Bend to the top of our biggest nearby volcano, which can amazingly be done almost entirely on trail. I am happy to share that my dog Riggins joined me on this 43-mile mission, and he joins me on almost all of my ventures into the mountains. In the realm of skiing and ski mountaineering, I love exploring the PNW volcanoes, searching for new link-ups and lines I have not yet climbed or skied. Because of the natural shape of volcanoes, the options are endless.
