40 years of LOBA:
1997 – Jane Evelyn Atwood
When she received the LOBA for her series in 1997 about prisons for women and female inmates, nine long years of intensive work lay behind the photographer Jane Evelyn Atwood: “Curiosity was the initial spur. Surprise, shock and bewilderment soon took over. Rage propelled me along to the end,” she commented on her long-term project. The series has lost little of its relevance and reality, even today.
