東京DANDYのインスタグラム(tokyodandy) - 6月20日 17時24分
A lot of my photographic work looks at the rituals, traditions, and ceremonies that form and foster a sense of cultural identity in Japan. Some of these are ancient, like the centuries-old festival pictured on the left, some of them are more contemporary, like the nightclub party on the right.
I read recently that the fear of rejection from a group was a natural human instinct from our time as hunter-gatherers when such ostracisation would mean death. We've all had those moments. With a camera as a reason to be present, I think a lot of these adventures are not just about satisfying my innate interest in understanding the country I have chosen to live, but also about finding my own place within it.
