The city of Atlanta is mourning Rayshard Brooks. We are still figuring out meaningful actions we can be doing right now as a dog company. In addition to highlighting the organizations we’re donating to internally, we also wanted to use this platform to highlight some black-owned dog businesses. Why? Because f*ck racism.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ We want to be uplifting black business owners in the dog space and we would love to hear about the black-owned dog businesses in your neck of the woods. (Check our stories to submit!) We’ll go first!⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ This is Renaldo (and Cooper!) Webb, Renaldo is the founder of @PetPlate. After graduating from MIT, Renaldo worked as a consultant in the pet food space. From his position behind the scenes in the pet food space, Renaldo wanted to work to find a healthy solution for his dog. Renaldo left his consulting job and moved into the commercial kitchen space working with a veterinary nutritionist, Dr. Streeter, to formulate meals for optimal nutrition.⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ We came to know Renaldo when he did a few cooking class events and dog birthday parties in our office when he was just getting started with Petplate.
