Katharina Grosse uses the historical hall of the Hamburger Bahnhof and the outdoor area behind the building as the site for a new work that radically destabilizes and renegotiates the existing order of the space of the museum. Incorporating the floor of the hall and Styrofoam sculptural elements as a pictorial ground, her painting extends beyond the building’s walls and into public space, inviting us to reconsider our habits of seeing, thinking, and perceiving.
