I usually don’t use my platform for controversial issues, and I definitely am not looking to get political. But this shouldn’t be controversial nor a political issue, it’s a HUMAN issue. And it’s not okay. . The simple fact that I don’t have to worry about Luca’s safety while he’s out and doing errands, driving, putting his hands in his pockets etc. but POC do... is not okay. Because of the color of my skin, I cannot imagine what that is like, to have to be concerned for your brother, father, or son just going about and living his life, just because of the color of his skin. . How is it that in 2020, in the United States, people have to be concerned for their or their loved one’s safety due to the color of their skin? I recognize there are other issues at play here, like police brutality, but the existence of one issue does not negate the other. . This situation has been weighing heavily on me and not only do I want to take a stand against it, but I want to know what I and others can do to ensure our country does not go on like this. .
