“Why do we need to BE (and not look) athletic”
#mondaymotivation Today we will talk about a topic that a lot of swimmers struggle with: maintain a fit and lean body during the vacation period.
@ermakova.anastasia83 did a great post about HOW to do it and how to enjoy vacation without worry that much about food income. I will talk about the REASONS WHY we need/want to have an athletic body:
1.- the most important reason is about having a HEALTHY BODY. Why? I always compare to a car: if you want to take care of the engine you fill good quality gas, change the oil often and put liquid in the refrigerator system. Why? Because the car will last longer, will work better and will cost you less money to arrange if it breaks. Compre now to the body If you want to last longer (live more time), work better (be stronger, faster and resistant) and not break the motor (injuries or sickness). With the body is even more, you can have the best car made from the best metal and made in the best factory, it won’t change the chasis depending on the gas you fill in, it will just break faster. With the body is different because all your body (and brain) is actually MADE of what you eat, the better quality of your food: the better quality of your cells including neurons and hormones (better and more positive mindset are some of the results) You want to give to yourself a good care to have a BETTER LIFE QUALITY.
2.- This is about mind: you will actually FEEL BETTER training. I remember when sometimes my body was heavy to move: my sensations in the water were a nightmare! You feel more tired and your confidence drops because you feel weaker. There is nothing more rewarding than feel light and on fire when you train! And why do we also need to be lighter? Because in sports the fastest and stronger wins. So imagine yourself at the pool with a belt of weights, harder?Now imagine you take them out? You feel better? Yes. And suddenly you have more points because you are higher, faster and sharper. It’s not about being more skinny or body image it’s about being fit to achieve your goals.
