It’s all about changing the point of view and find the way to make yourself essential. I’ve seen many alternates in that position for too long, mainly because they were thinking from the wrong point of view. Today I really want you to read this and if you are humble enough to listen and change you will be IN the team (or duet, or whatever). 1.- First of all remember the most important thing: nobody wants to place in a team a person who brings bad energy. So if you are offended to be the alternate and your energy is in a bad mood, this won’t help for anything. Change and fight for your spot but it’s very very important that you take (again) this situation as a call to change because you relaxed or an opportunity to improve. STAY POSITIVE. 2.- HELP THE TEAM from outside. Every time you are there, correct, from underwater, from anyplace. HELP. Bring ideas if it’s choreography time, correct if it’s execution time, cheer the team if it’s a hard moment. Don’t isolate yourself. Be a bridge to connect the team to the coach. 3.- IMPROVE YOUR WEAKNESSES. Work extra, at home, ask the coach what you need to improve and do it by yourself. In the picture you can see how I was working on my extension at home everyday! 4.- MAKE YOURSELF ESSENTIAL. Find it, from outside the pattern is much easier to observe the team. Be smart and find what the team needs. Recognize your strengths and become this piece of puzzle that the team needs to be complete. I always explain the story of how @iremontru made it to be in our team for the Olympics in London 2012. She was fighting for the place against a very talented swimmer. Her talent and level were much lower, but she had a very stable character, she was helping in personal life a lot of teammates and knew exactly all the corrections. She was reminding to the swimmers who were forgetting those corrections in private, to HELP the team from inside. We decided we wanted her, because the team felt much better with her IN.」12月10日 8時34分 - andreafuentes83
