All the extremes can be harmful if they are not guided with positive energy. If you are a perfectionist it can be very useful to do things well. You are demanding and want to work hard for a good result. The problem only comes when you are not happy with excellence and you only find happiness with perfection. Why? Because perfection is an idealistic goal. Idealistic means it’s only possible in the ideas, not in the reality. Perfection can never be reached, because everything can always be better. If you look only for perfection, you are condemned to chronic in-satisfaction. How to be happy when you are a perfectionist? You have to accept the difference between the ideal and the real world. Enthusiasm for learning! The majority of perfectionist people, you like it or not, are TOO CENTERED IN YOURSELF and your results. Difficult to admit, I know, but if you want to go out of this circle, try to focus on the things you are going through without being involved as a main character. What you are learning, what is the main teaching of this life lesson. Then when you are “out of this movie” and you are an observer instead of a protagonist, you start enjoying the process. Think about it, you will realize that is much easier like this, enjoying to be a beginner, no judgement to anything, just an open mind to learn and improve. Frustration only puts you more distant from perfection, so you are actually acting against your own goal!
