From onsights to 2-3 try routes like “Dante’s Inferno Extension,” 5.14- (8b/+?), I feel happy living a simple life here. There is no cell phone service and to get WiFi (now), you can go to the little convenience store and use a code. There’s something special about being with a group of people and no one having the habit of checking their phone. I wish it was the case more often where I live. Obviously these are habits that we built and we have the power to deconstruct as well. I will be the first to admit that it’s a pattern that I’ve developed... I wake up and go through my emails on my phone. Building some more space to reflect and distance myself digitally is sometimes necessary, and having a bit of a digital detox can be powerful. Ironically, here is a photo I am posting during my little WiFi hit, though, from last February when I was here doing a first female ascent of a cool 11-pitch climb called Samadhi. I’m not working with a photographer here this time, so short of a ‘butt shot,’ this is the best I have to share right now from the area 😊 (forgot my helmet so I borrowed one from a friend).
