Being terribly inappropriate and terribly unsure of what and how to share on social media most days.

The first chapter of my research on the erasure and censorship* of sex workers from online places is coming to a close with the approaching end of the semester. I first started this project as a requirement for grad school with hope to make sense of the shared experience of the loss of online space in a post FOSTA SESTA world. From the four interviews, I have found shared experiences of the loss of self record and community, a reaction of fear for what more FOSTA SESTA will bring on and offline, as well as what it means to navigate constant code switching in order to exist online. For fellow s*x workers, how would you language and describe the systemic deletion/deactivation/reporting/shadow banning of s*x workers in a post FOSTA SESTA world?
This research is dedicated to my s*x worker community. I will be polishing it over the next few weeks to adhere to deadlines. S*x workers who are interested in the (to be for now) final, lmk via DM and I’ll share when it’s ready in the coming weeks. Thank you to all the participants and my community for the support. School has been really isolating and I don’t take for granted the loving relationships with SWer friends, peers, and mentors I’ve made in the time I’ve been in the industry. Love you and stay safe. *erasure and censorship is how the participants languaged the systemic loss of online space in a post FOSTA SESTA world [pd: Mia taking a mirror selfie as they are sitting posed on a bed with Newton the cat sitting in front of a them for tastefully censor their body. They are sitting in a floral duvet and there is light peaking through blinds of the window behind them. Their phone is partially blocking their face in the mirror selfie.]
