本日は、PORTER flagship storeにて展開中の写真集よりWilliam Eggleston（ウィリアム・エグルストン）の「The Democratic Forest」をご紹介いたします。
「カラー写真の父」と謳われるWilliam Egglestonが、1980年代に手がけた叙情詩的なプロジェクト「The Democratic Forest」。
そのハイライトと もいえる60点の作品を展示したニューヨークのDavid Zwirner（ギャラリー）の展覧会に合わせて出版されたカタログ。
故郷であるメンフィスはもとより全米各地、さらにはベルリンをも巡りながら撮影する中で、エグルストンはありふれた風景を独特の詩的なイメージに変えて見せています。
それぞれの被写体に重要性の多少やヒエラルキーはなく、すべての被写体は平等であるという意味で「Democratic」であると主張した作品です。

William Eggleston-often referred to as the “father of color photography”-has established a singular pictorial style that deftly combines vernacular subject matter with an innate and sophisticated understanding of color, form, and composition.
The highlight and the catalog that was published with the exhibition of David Zwirner (Gallery) in New York, where 60 works were exhibited.
