The U.S.-China trade war just punched Big Tech in the gut.
U.S. stocks suffered their steepest drop of 2019 on Monday, with tech companies leading the way.
Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Alphabet and Facebook — the five biggest companies in the country — lost a combined $162,000,000,000 in market value yesterday.
Added to the $66,000,000,000 those companies lost on Friday, they lost a total of $228,000,000,000 in only two days.
The sell-off follows the latest saga in the trade dispute, with President Donald Trump announcing new tariffs on China and China’s currency, the yuan, dropping to its lowest level against the dollar in more than a decade.
Apple, which has the most exposure in the China, took the biggest hit with a 5.2% decrease Monday.
