Watamu Beach Clean! 🌊 I’ve had such an awesome morning with the @localoceanco marine scouts! These guys have a keen interest in marine conservation and work with @localoceanco to protect their local area and the turtles who live there 🥳 This morning we did a beach clean and managed to collect these four huge bags of waste on a 200m stretch of beach 😱 As I’m sure you’re aware, ocean plastic is a huge issue with 14 million tonnes of plastic being dumped into the ocean every year. A truckload a minute. This kills marine life; with birds feeding it to their babies and turtles mistaking it for jellyfish which then clogs their stomach with waste. We can easily fight this by:
1️⃣ Reducing our personal plastic consumption & responsibly handling any plastic we do consume.
2️⃣ Cleaning up our beaches. Grab a bag and pick up trash, this intercepts it before it harms wildlife any further.
3️⃣ Campaigning for wider change. Political change is the biggie so support positive moves like plastic bag bans or policy changes 🙌🏼

We ALL have a responsibility in taking care of the most vulnerable creatures of our planet; marine life and land animals. It is the most important message and I am forever grateful that you continue to incorporate this into your content ???
