サザビーズさんのインスタグラム写真 - (サザビーズInstagram)「Over the years, the story of Gerda and Lili Wegener has gained a cult following in #Denmark and around the world. The husband-and-wife were the subject of Tom Hooper’s 2015 film The Danish Girl starring Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander, and more recently, Gerda’s art was the subject of a retrospective at @arkenmuseum. _ Gerda was an illustrator and painter, famous for her images of fashionable women; her first husband Einar identified as female and became her favourite model under the name Lili Elbe, the first pioneering recipient of gender reassignment surgery. _ ‘Les Femmes Fatales’ is in many ways a glorious tribute to Lili’s life, painted just two years after she died roughly three months after undertaking her fifth and final operation in June 1931. The girl on the right bears an uncanny resemblance to Lili based on previous portraits of her and this scene mirrors the glamorous and hedonistic Parisian high society of the 1920s that Lili and Gerda enjoyed together.
