Following his residency at the Studio Museum in Harlem, Nari Ward installed "Amazing Grace" (1993) in an abandoned West 141st Street firehouse that now serves as the artist’s studio. The strollers that make up the work speak to the lives of the children they once transported as well those of the homeless people who repurposed them as carriers for their possessions, a testament to the tragedy and the hopeful inventiveness of 1990s New York. See the work restaged as part of "Nari Ward: We the People" through May 26. #NariWard @nariward @studiomuseum ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
