Interrupting family time just to write something mediocre for my mama isn’t my style. I wanted to wait till I could properly express just how grateful I am for this woman. Now that I’m all grown up, I realize I don’t just feel gratitude for you-but admiration. My mama is a badass boss. Grew up poor, her dad was pretty much absent in her life (she still speaks fondly of him). In her 20’s, 3 kids, another on the way...fearless and decided to up and move to Canada. Took her exam, became an RN. Raised 4 kids-took them to soccer, basketball, volleyball, track practices and games. Choir, singing, dancing lessons, rehearsals and shows. FOUR kids who were VERY active in EVERYTHING. And she handled her shit like a BOSS. Even beat cancer twice...and is still a strong healthy beauty. I’ve never been the type to play victim, play the “poor me” card and feel sorry for myself ever. Why? Because my mother. Never once has she pulled the “poor me, I’m a victim” bullshit. When life threw her curveballs, she would handle it. She is a QUEEN. She was always the force behind everyone in my family. The force behind my dad starting his own business. The force behind my goals and wins. You have to understand something...we grew up in a place called Surrey. No one in my family knew anything about the music business. All I had was a dream, my supportive family- and my crazy, persistent, smart, kind, beautiful mama. Pretty sure all odds were against my sister and I. Yet we’ve managed to make music a career. Her voice was definitely my drive. I may not be Beyoncé...but in some parts of the world, I’m Kelly and that is win in my books. 💕🙏🏻 . And now? I get to live my best life with my beautiful boys. Sometimes when I speak to Chance about his career...I hear my mother in me. I’m so lucky to have had a stage mama who was smart enough know the importance of practice and persistence. I love you so much mama. Every day I thank God for giving me a mama who is as amazing as you. 💕🙏🏻」5月15日 5時23分 - eliseestrada
