Do you know what famed fossil hunter Barnum Brown was looking for when he found the specimen that would be identified as the first T. rex? He was on a Museum expedition, hoping to locate a complete Triceratops skull—and in 1902, he was successful. Brown then wrote the following update in a letter to the Museum: “Quarry No 1. contains the femur... [partial] humerus, three vertebrae, and two undetermined bones of a large Carnivorous Dinosaur… I have never seen anything like it from the Cretaceous.” And with that, T. rex entered our worlds! #amnh150 #tbt
