My other happy place 💕 A smile on my face, the sun on my skin and salt in my hair.
I can spend hours at the beach, preferably one with shells and pebbles in soft sand that I can peruse while the waves steal away and then deliver new ones. It captivates me.
Then there's the ocean. My love hate relationship. Otherwise known as anxiety I guess. Some days I'm better at controlling it than others. I have a desire to be in the sea yet seem terrified of what's in it at the same time. It's irrational.
However, I seemed to trust Sri Lanka blue and even after the first day surfing when the 7+ft waves were just a bit too big for my anxiety to defend, I had a great time, swimming and surfing with turtles and seeing baby black top reef sharks feeding on the shallow reef.
When I'm at the beach, I feel a sense of calm and spaciousness. Room to appreciate and just be.

mikbjorkenstam Leah... with such a love for the ocean, yet also fear and respect... I can’t recommend enough a freediving course. It’s an amazing sport that mixes mindfulness, meditation, and physicality. Not too dissimilar from climbing. You would be amazed at what your body can do. Loads of good instructors in the UK if you want me send you some contacts.

shelllarkin95 Love this, i feel the same way about the ocean! I adore the beach and really want to get into the water but my anxiety and fear keeps me out and i miss out on things. After your last post about this I was able to conquer my fear for a few mins and hopefully this summer I will do again! ❤❤

damiandworshak @leahcraneclimbing it is not irrational i promise you. I Feel the same way when it comes to big waves (even if their "small"). The ocean is is the ultamite ethereal terror.

my_scotland Try a wee scuba diving session. Go see that there is nothing to fear for yourself. Plus it's really good fun.
